ARTIST STATEMENT
Currently I have two practices - creating geometric abstract paintings and unique handmade snapback caps.
In my paintings I am interested in the simplicity of a single geometric shape and the complexity that can be created through the combination of many simple structures. This oppositional relationship between simple and complex is at the core of my work. My goal is to create a composition for the viewer that feels both simple, graphic and flat, while also complex, painterly, and deep. The hybridization of these opposing characteristics creates an experience that is not easily digested at one glance. Layers of discovery are created as the viewer experiences the precise and systematic while also the chaotic and expressionistic.
My hats are wearable art. Each hat is completely one of a kind and handmade from second hand upholstery fabrics.
